The Artist is the Variable: Technology, Integrity & the Fate of Art

In this lecture, RAI Instructor and educator Shawn Vales argues that the deciding factor has never been the technology—it is the Artist. From the recognition of perspective to the invention of photography, new technologies and tools have enhanced art in the hands of those who held to their purpose, and degraded art in the hands of those who lost their integrity.

Shawn traces how technology has tested the integrity of the artist over the centuries and asks what that integrity demands of artists now, in the Age of the Machine.
