Bonnie has been teaching young people for over 10 years. Her class will pursue oil painting in the tradition of the Ridgewood Art Institute. Using a prismatic palette students will learn to capture the flow of light on still life objects and in the landscape. McGown has a strong background in pleinair Painting. She will provide studies done, en plein air, for her students to use if they desire to paint the landscape. Once students are comfortable with the basics they will be taught the wipeout method to visualize the light in their painting and unify their composition. McGown studied at the Art Students League in New York City when she first moved to New Jersey. Discovering the Ridgewood Art Institute, so close to home, started her on her artistic journey of painting the light. At the barn, she studied with Arthur Maynard, John Osborne and Betty Kaytes. She enhanced her studies with numerous workshops with notable artists across the US, Canada and abroad. She also studied at the Florence Academy Of Art in Jersey City. McGown has garnered numerous awards for her work, judged shows and is represented by several galleries in New York and New Jersey.
