2026 President’s Letter
Dear Ridgewood Art Institute members and supporters,
As we start the new year, I want to express my deep gratitude for the artistic passion and dedication that defines the Ridgewood Art Institute. Our rich history, dating back to 1935, is a testament to the commitment and hard work of countless individuals.
Our Institute has continued to provide a home for artists, students, and the community who believe in the transformative power of creative expression. From classes, demonstrations, and Art shows, every achievement has been made possible by people like you and so is our continued existence. As we look to the future, we are committed to providing the best instruction and programs to our members and the community.
Another very important goal is to preserve our wonderful building. The "Barn" is in need of constant care, maintenance, and upkeep. While repairs of an immediate nature are made within our limited budget, there are many other maintenance items which should be performed to ensure the ongoing viability of the building and the Institute's activities. This past Fall we engaged a professional inspector to assess the building condition and provide a report on updates and repairs needed so that the Barn can serve our artist community for many years to come. The Board's plan is to engage a General Contractor who can work with us to formulate a comprehensive Barn maintenance program.
We are calling on those who believe in our mission to join us in two important ways:
Volunteer your time and talent: Help with Art shows, fundraising, maintaining our gardens, and assist with minor repairs to the Barn. Apply your expertise in helping us with the Barn maintenance program. We are an all-volunteer organization and your involvement can make a meaningful difference!
Support us financially: As a nonprofit, we rely on the generosity of individuals who understand the value of accessible arts education. Your contribution—no matter the size—directly funds scholarships and programs, and helps with the necessary building upkeep.
Please reach out to me directly if you'd like to help - president@ridgewoodartinstitute.org. Together, we can ensure that creative expression continues to flourish here in our beautiful historic building.
Thank you for believing in our mission and for standing with us. I look forward to all we will create in the year ahead.
Warm regards,
Suzanne Bochet
