Painting the Portrait Head
Instructor: Bill Angresano
Dates: June 22nd and 23rd, 2019 – two day session.
Time: 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm – both days in the West Studio
What to bring: a 16″x 20″ or 18″x24″ canvas , brushes, paints, palette and tools.
On the first day of this 2 day workshop, Bill will demonstrate an affective approach to painting the live model and the rendering of light as it relates to FORM, TONE and COLOR. Followed by a discussion of palette and technique by showing examples of some Masters Portraits.
The second day will be entirely devoted to the students work. Painting the live model with instruction and constructive critique. Bill will show you how to bring ALL three crucial elements (FORM, TONE, COLOR) together as you express what you see in the portrait. Avoiding the retracing of steps, that leads to overwork and discord. Getting away from painting by filling in the spaces between the lines. In short a freedom of expression grows out of a freedom of execution.
A light snack, coffee, tea, water will be provided.
Please contact Bill at 201-370-2698 or email at Angres@verizon.net for questions and to sign up.
