About the Institute
The Ridgewood Art Institute is a non-profit arts organization of
professional and amateur artists.  Our purpose is to promote an
interest in the fine arts in Ridgewood and its surrounding
communities.  Members of the nearby community are always
welcome to join our classes, exhibits, lectures, demonstrations and
other scheduled events.
Becoming a Member
To enroll in a class, call the Institute at (201) 652-9615 while the
class in which you wish to enroll is in session.  All classes are
ongoing throughout the year, from September through June, unless
otherwise noted.  You may enroll at any time during the year.

All students pay a yearly membership fee in addition to the class
tuition and fees.  Yearly membership is from September through
August. New students may join a class at any time during the year
and may attend classes for a period of four weeks, but must then
apply for membership to continue.  As a non-profit organization, our
main source of income depends upon this system of membership
dues.  Every September you will be asked to renew your membership.

Facilities
Our unique building, located at the corner of East Glen and Oak
Street in Ridgewood, New Jersey, is a 100-year old converted barn.

On the main floor, our East and West Galleries are used for art
exhibitions, painting demonstrations and lectures.  Our galleries host
a full program of juried and invitational shows from the Institute's
membership, as well as shows for individual accomplished painters
and other affiliated arts organizations such as the Community Arts
Association and the New Jersey Watercolor Society.

Two north light studios with easels for painting and drawing are on
the second floor.  Studio space is modeled after the studios at the Art
Students League in New York City.  Still life objects can be found in
both studios.  Lockers are available for a yearly rental fee.
