Working from a live model under north light students will be taught to simplify and compose a portrait painting through the usage of form, composition, color, perspective, planes and light. How to use a prismatic palette will be discussed. Study of massing, values, relationships, edges, progression, atmosphere, mood and prismatic light effects will be strongly emphasized. Beginning and advanced students will benefit from individualized attention. This one-day workshop is appropriate for painters of all levels. Those new to oil painting are especially welcome. A brief portrait painting demonstration will be offered at the beginning of the workshop.
