
Joel Popadics teaches watercolor and drawing for adults and children.
His students are taught the techniques of watercolor as it applies to
portrait, still life and landscape. Popadics received a BFA degree from
the School of Visual Arts, NYC and studied painting with John Phillip
Osborne and Arthur F. Maynard at the Ridgewood Art Institute. He has
been a professional artist for over 20 years and has taught watercolor
for the past 12 years.
Mr. Popadics has had numerous one-man shows, including a December
1998 exhibition at the Bergen Museum of Art and Science in Paramus,
NJ. His work has appeared in exhibitions of the National Academy of
Design, AWS, Salmagundi Club and other prominent organizations
across the nation.
Among his many honors are five Best-in Show awards and nineteen
major national awards including the Florence Lonsford Award for a
Traditional of Impressionistic Landscape from the Salmagundi Club and
the Grumbacher Gold Medal from the California Watercolor Association.
He is an elected member of six art organizations and was a featured
artist in the July 1998, June 2000, and March 2003 issues of The Artists
Magazine.
Mr. Popadics is President of the New Jersey Watercolor Society
and the education chairman of the Ridgewood Art Institute. He is
represented in the finest galleries in New England and his watercolors
are in exclusive private and public collections.
Joel Popadics teaches Watercolor Techiniques, Landscape, Portrait, Seascape & Still Life for adults on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm unitl 10:00 pm and Thursday daytime from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm.
He also teaches Watercolor & Drawing for Young People-Basic Techniques, Landscape and Still Life on Monday afternoons from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm. He also teaches an adult education Watercolor painting class in cooperation with the Ridgewood Community School.
